My name is Michael Taulton, and I’m a dreamer.

 

I believe that an artist’s imagination is the most powerful tool that can be utilized in the art world. In 2012 my imagination led me to the photographic medium, after helping my younger cousin with a high school photography class project. Soon thereafter, I was flooded with original ideas and knew it was time to purchase a camera. My first camera was a Canon Powershot digital camera. It was all I could afford at the time, so it was going to have to do. I used natural settings for my early photoshoots, and then started converting rooms in my houses/apartments to dedicated ‘studio’ areas.

 

There came a time in the early winter of 2014 that I found myself at a standstill. I loved photography, but I didn’t know the technical in’s and out’s of the craft. Being self-taught got me through numerous photoshoots spanning over 2 years, but I felt that it was time to seek a disciplined education if I really wanted to be successful. In October 2015 I graduated from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh- Online Division with my Associates degree in photography.

 

Currently, I’m working on multiple portfolios with different themes and sub-genres for each. As for the future, I plan to follow my imagination, wherever it may lead me.
